We found that with ALS, you need to get a sling that will continue to meet the continuing loss of ability that is, unfortunately, inherent in this disease. Always look ahead and be prepared.

Jeff used a "Hoyer Patient Lift 4-Point Sling; Padded U-sling with Head support". This enabled us to dress him in the bed or chair and allowed him to take care of personal needs easily and with relative privacy. We could remove or position the sling while he was in the chair or bed. It gave us relative freedom, flexibility and was quick and easy to use, once we got familiar to the sling.
