Home Adaptations
The only commonly available lifts for ALS patients are Hoyer lifts. Because Hoyer lifts are bulky, expensive, and difficult to use, Steve Pesto, an ALS patient himself, designed his own lift and transfer mechanism to:

  • Transfer himself to and from the wheelchair, bed, and bath
  • Require minimal effort from the caretaker
  • Be unobtrusive and inexpensive

Warning: The safety of this device is totally dependant on proper materials, construction, and use. The designer is not responsible for any injuries resulting from construction or use.
